Warm and dry at first, a few showers developing by the weekend in the south, then risk of rain next week

An unsettled week which will be turning much cooler, and then cold after mid-week. Plenty of rain in England and Wales with a risk of flooding. Showers in Scotland and Ireland. Notably colder by the end of the week.

Tuesday 24/9/24
Low pressure remains on Tuesday with an area of rain in Scotland and northern England. Probably fairly cloudy in the rest of England, Wales and Ireland with some showery bursts of rain. However, a few bright or sunny spells developing as the day progresses. Temperatures at 10C in Scotland, 19C in southern England but generally a cooler 15 to 17C.


 

Wednesday 25/9/24
Low pressure affects the whole British Isles on Wednesday. Centred over Wales and central England it will be bringing cloud and rain to many, some of the rain heavy. Wet to in eastern and southern Scotland and eastern Ireland. Brighter northwest Scotland and western Ireland. Highs at 17C in southern England, widely 9 to 14C.


 

Thursday 26/9/24
Low pressure east on Thursday. A cold northwest to northerly flow affecting the country as bands of heavy showers, merging to longer spells of rain, head south. Highs at 9 to 14C.



 
 
 

Friday 27/9/24
An autumnal day of sunshine and showers. Strong to gale force northwest winds blowing heavy showers south through the UK and Ireland. Highs at 8 to 10C and feeling especially cold in the wind.



 
 
 

Saturday 28/9/24
A ridge of high pressure in England, Wales and Ireland giving some sunny spells. Rain in central and northern Scotland. Highs at 10 to 14C after a morning frost.

Sunday 29/9/24
Higher pressure remains bringing a mostly dry and bright day. Some rain may arrive in Ireland and southwestern parts of the UK later. Highs at 11 to 16C.
