Cold at first with showery rain, becoming milder by the weekend
A cold start to the forecast period as high pressure over Scandinavia continues to bring an easterly wind to all. There will be showery outbreaks of rain, mostly in the east, but drier to the west with brighter spells. Tending to turn milder into the weekend and more unsettled too. Remaining milder into the early stage of next week.

Thursday 13/10/16 High pressure remains over Scandinavia on Thursday. The easterly wind brings plenty of cloud and it feels cold through the day. Rain over eastern parts of Scotland and England, this perhaps spilling westwards into northwest England and Northern ireland as well as eastern Ireland. Tending to stay mostly dry in England and Wales, but feeling cold. A risk of some showers along southern coasts of England. Drier and brighter in the far north and west of Scotland with a few brighter spells here. A breezy day with highs at 10 to 13C.
Friday 14/10/16 Low pressure over northern France on Friday with high pressure remaining over Scandinavia. This brings a cold, fresh easterly flow through all areas. There will be a fair amount of cloud with some outbreaks of mostly light rain or showers at times. Most of these will be in the east, but just about anywhere could see some rain. Highs at 11 to 16C.
Saturday 15/10/16 Low pressure drifts onto the south coast of England on Saturday. Rain may become more persisten in southern Ireland, Wales and the south of England. Drier for northern England and Scotland, although some cloud and patchy rain again affecting eastern coasts. Brighter to the west. Staying chilly in northern areas at 11C, but turning a little milder to the south at 17C.
Sunday 16/10/16 Low pressure over Ireland on Sunday. A southeast flow will be bringing less chilly weather to all parts of the UK and Ireland. Cloud and outbreaks of rain in the east and south as a front passes east. becoming brighter to the west with sunny spells and some showers. Tops near 13 to 17C.
Monday 17/10/16 Low pressure to the west of Scotland on Monday. A trough in the west gigves some cloud and outbreaks of showery rain here. Drier to the east and south with some brighter spells. Highs near 13 to 16C.
Tuesday 18/10/16 Low pressure ot the northwest of Scotland with higher pressure building again to the west. There will be some showers in Scotland and Northern Ireland, Scattered showers in northwest England but tending to be drier elsewhere with some bright or sunny spells. Highs at 17C in southern England, 12C in Scotland.
