A warm weekend in the south, then bursts of rain, heavy and thundery for some, will push northwards on Sunday. A changeable and rather unsettled week ahead. Turning windy, particularly through mid week, with a mix of rain, showers and sunny spells. Cooler for all.

A trough sits over the UK and Ireland on Monday sweeping a front of rain from west to east across the country, clearing from the west where there will be sunny spells and showers. A cooler day for all with highs at 12C in western Scotland, 21C in southeast England.

Tuesday 19/9/23
A weak and transient ridge of higher pressure on Tuesday allowing for a drier day for many, though do expect showers to affect some northern and western areas. Longer spells of rain moving into southwestern areas later. A cooler day with highs at 12 to 19C.

Wednesday 20/9/23
A windy day on Wednesday as a broad and extensive area of low pressure sits just to the northwest of Scotland. An associated front will push southeast across the country with brighter skies behind yet blustery showers too. Highs at 14 to 21C.

Thursday 21/9/23
The front gradually clearing the SE of England on Thursday. Elsewhere sees a largely bright day with sunny spells though also blustery showers, these mainly affecting western areas as low pressure sits over Scotland. Highs at 15 to 20C.

Friday 22/9/23
Friday is another sunshine and showers day, though less windy but still breezy for most. Highs at 15 to 20C.

Saturday 23/9/23
Saturday is dry for a time before the next area of low pressure moves in from the west bringing spells of rain. Highs at 15 to 21C.
