Breezy and mostly mild, most rain in northwest Scotland but drier in the east

A breezy few days ahead with higher pressure to the south and low pressure to the north. A brisk southwest wid for much of the week bringing some rain to northwest Scotland and patchy drizzle at times to western coasts. Tending to be drier in the east. Mild on most days.

Monday 6/1/20
A ridge of high pressure across eastern England at first on Monday brings a fair start to the day. France will be crossing Ireland and into Scotland as well as the west of England and Wales in the morning bringing periods of rain. This rain then spreads eastwards through the rest of England and Wales during the afternoon. Brighter weather but with heavy showers follows into Ireland. Becoming windy for all. Highs at 9 to 12C

Tuesday 7/1/20
A mild day with strong south-westerly winds affecting all areas. There will be some drizzle over western coasts of Wales and Southwest England. Dry in central and eastern areas. Heavy rain in central and western Scotland, this rain affecting Northern Ireland and Northwest England too. Gales in northern and western Scotland. Highs at 11 to 14C.
 

Wednesday 8/1/20
Some rain affecting southwest England and southern Wales on Wednesday. Drier central and eastern areas. Northern England and much of Ireland should be dry and bright too. Rain in northern and western Scotland. Highs at 4 to 7C in northern areas, 11C in southern England.
 

Thursday 9/1/20
Low-pressure to the north of Scotland on Thursday pushes fronts eastwards through the country. They will be outbreaks of rain associated with the fronts, these heavy in Northwest Scotland. Sunshine and showers followed to Ireland and the west of the UK. A breezy day for all. Temperatures rising to between 7 and 11C.

Friday 10/1/20
High pressure to the south on Friday. This should bring a fair day with sunny spells for most. Some cloud and outbreaks of rain in northern and western Scotland. Dry for most other areas. Highs at 5 to 10C.

Saturday 11/1/20
Fair with sunny spells in much of England and eastern Wales. Brisker winds with rain in western Scotland and western Ireland. Highs at 6 to 12C.
