Cooler later in the week

Initially high pressure will keep fronts to the west with a good deal of fine dry weather to come. Temperatures are expected to rise as it becomes hot. A change to more unsettled conditions prevail around mid week as high pressure recedes and low pressure areas and fronts move in from the west. Temperatures drop closer to normal levels later in the week.

Wednesday 14/09/16
Very warm today. There remains room for error on the rain pattern but at the moment western parts of Britain could see some heavy showers, possibly with thunder. Central and eastern areas look dry and sunniest. Expect high temperatures of 20 to 27C.

Thursday 15/09/16
It may be more unsettled with a risk of thundery rain across Wales and southern England. Showers too are likely across western Scotland and Northern Ireland with eastern Scotland and north east England dry, perhaps. It looks like a wet night to come across most areas. Remaining warm. Highs of 19 to 24C.
 

Friday 16/09/16
Today temperatures dip to closer to normal. Outbreaks of persistent rain across eastern parts of Scotland and England clear in the morning. Lots of showers elsewhere and some may heavy. Most places turn dry for the evening and night with coastal showers. Highs of 13 to 20C.
 

Saturday 17/09/16
Cool and unsettled with showers and sunnier spells. A number of showers may be heavy. Turning drier by nightfall. Temperatures will be near normal. Highs of 14 to 18C.

 
 
 

Sunday 18/09/16
Spells of heavy rain may run in across western parts of Britain during the course of the day. Eastern areas tend to remain dry with early sunshine giving way to cloud. The rain spreads to all areas in the evening. Highs of 15 to 19C.

Monday 19/09/16
Windy with rain in the south slowly clearing away. Lots of showers to come across northern and western areas today, some heavy. Expect highs of 16 to 21C.
