A mixed week and very warm in the southeast at first
A mixed week ahead and one which starts very warm in the far southeast. Less warm in the north and west. Bands of rain and showers spreading northwards into the weekend before things are set to become more unsettled in northern and western areas into next week. More southern parts of England tending to be drier overall with the least rain here.

Saturday 27/8/16 A thundery area of low pressure passing into southern parts of England on Saturday. This brings cloud and outbreaks of rain, some of it heavy. The rain edges eastwards with drier and brighter weather following into Wales and western England. Scotland and Ireland will be dry and bright with sunny spells, although cloud and some rain affecting the west of Ireland. Tops near 27C in southeast England, 17 to 22C elsewhere.
Sunday 28/8/16 A complex area of low pressure is likely to be over the UK and Ireland on Sunday. This is going to bring rain across western and northern Scotland as well as Ireland. Elsewhere a mix of sunshine and showers perhaps merging into longer spells of rain later. Highs at 15 to 24C.
Monday 29/8/16 Low pressure passes east introducing a cooler northwest flow to all parts on Monday. There will be a mix of sunshine and showers, most north and east, although perhaps turning drier in the west. Highs at 15 to 21C.
Tuesday 30/8/16 A ridge of high pressure builds Tuesday bringing fair weather in eastern and southern areas with some sunny spells. Low pressure west of Ireland drives fronts eastwards bringing rain into Scotland and Ireland. Stronger winds in the west and north too. Highs at 15 to 22C.
Wednesday 31/8/16 The final day of August is likely to be dry in southeast England with some sunny spells. However, elsewhere low pressure brings an unsettled day with rain and showers, some of them heavy. Cool at 14 to 22C.
Thursday 1/9/16 Low pressure to the northeast of Scotland on Thursday. This brings showers into Scotland and Ireland as well as most of the west of the UK. Eastern and southern areas seeing less showers with sunny spells. Tops near a cold 12C in northern England, 19C in southern England.
