A mixed week
Rain at times

Issued: 0800 Wednesday 7th September 2016
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

A mixed week with plenty of dry weather, but some rain at times

Turning fresher through Thursday and into the weekend. There will be some more persistent rain on Saturday and again through Monday for some. Otherwise next week brings small amounts of rainfall. Most of the rain over Scotland, but more southern areas tending to be drier. Temperatures remaining above average and perhaps being warm in the south at times.

Saturday 10/9/16
A front becomes slow moving as it edges east through the country on Saturday. This brings several hours of rain, most to northern England, the Midlands, Wales and western England in the morning before heading east into the afternoon. Brighter weather follows from the west with sunny spells and mostly dry weather. Winds easing with highs at 15 to 22C.

Sunday 11/9/16
Low pressure west of Scotland on Sunday with the risk of some heavy rain across Ireland, and then later for western Scotland. Winds reaching severe gale force here too. England, Wales and eastern Scotland are going to be drier with some bright or sunny spells. Warm in the southeast at 23C, nearer 16 to 21C elsewhere.

Monday 12/9/16
Low pressure northwest of Scotland on Monday pushes a front eastwards. This brings rain to much of Scotland and Northern Ireland, with the rain edging into, northwest and western England as well as western Wales later. Drier in the east with some sunny spells. Becoming brighter for much of western Scotland and Northern Ireland later in the day. Feeling warm again in southeast England at 25C, but fresher to the west at nearer 16C.

Tuesday 13/9/16
A weak ridge of high pressure builds through Tuesday. This should give a drier day for most with sunny spells. An odd shower and some cloud Scotland and Ireland as well as Wales and northern England. The best of any sunshine always tending to be to the south. Highs near 16 to 21C.

Wednesday 14/9/16
Probably fair for many on Wednesday as a ridge of high pressure remains over the UK and Ireland. This brings dry weather with some sunny spells. Thicker cloud and some rain may affect northern Scotland. Highs near 16 to 23C.

Thursday 15/9/16
Lower pressure bringing some cloud and rain to Northern Ireland and Scotland on Thursday, breezier here too. Drier to the south with sunny spells. Highs at 15 to 23C.
