Sunday 14/01/2024
As high pressure moves to the west of the UK, a northerly flow will develop over the country bringing colder temperatures as well as wintry showers. Expect frequent blustery showers of sleet or snow over the north and east Scotland, northern counties of Northern Irelands, as well as northeastern coastal parts of England, but we should expect only slight accumulations over higher ground through the day. Further west it will be drier with sunny spells. Best of the drier and brighter weather over the southwest England. Windy in north and east, but lighter elsewhere. Temperatures at around at 3-4C in north and east, but up to 6C elsewhere. Widespread frost developing overnight.

Monday 15/01/2024
A frosty start to the day for most. Cloudier with some wintry showers in north and east in the morning and early afternoon, but high pressure will push east through the day, with showers dying away later. A period of rain or snow is possible in far north Scotland later in the evening, otherwise it will get drier across most parts. Breezy in north and east. In the afternoon, temperatures will rise up to 2C in north, but 4C in south. Widespread frost returning in the evening with a risk of icy stretches in north and east.

Tuesday 16/01/2024
The day will start frosty almost across most parts. Across the north it will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain or sleet and hill snow, that will clear later in the day, with wintry showers following for north Scotland. Further south it will be a mostly dry day with some bright spells. Some thicker cloud will reach north England later in the evening with some light rain and possibly hill snow. Cloudier over the southern coast in late evening with some rain or sleet. Temperatures will remain at around freezing over Scotland and Northern Ireland in the afternoon, but will rise to 3-5C over England and Wales.

Wednesday 17/01/2024
The confidence of the weather forecast for Wednesday remains very low at the moment. However there is a risk for rain spreading north through the day. Rain will possibly readily turn into snow over southern and central parts of England as well as Wales. Further north a northerly flow will give occasional wintry showers. It will be a cold day for all with maximums around zero for Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England.

Thursday 18/01/2024
A showery day for most areas, with wintry showers these more frequent over north and east Scotland, northern countries of Northern Ireland as well as eastern coastal areas of England. Another cold day with maximum at around freezing in north.

Friday 19/01/2024
More showers are expected for Friday, these more frequent across coastal areas and wintry even down to low levels. Best of the drier and brighter conditions over southern England. Widespread frost in the morning and again from late afternoon with risk of icy stretches.
