Several periods of rain in most areas, heaviest in the western Scottish and Welsh mountains. Staying mild overnight with minimum temperatures of 9C.
Wednesday Low pressure affecting the country on Wednesday. Strong winds (some gale force) and showers through the morning. Broken cloud and occasional sunshine occurring between showers. As evening approaches, persistent rain pushes into southwest England and Wales and migrating eastward. Expect slowing winds and prolonged rain from the Midlands south during this time. Remaining breezy in the north with scattered showers. Highs at 12 to 14C.
Thursday Low pressure drifts east away from the British Isles on Thursday, breaking up clouds and allowing prolonged periods of sunshine. A fresh breeze from the north with gales possible in northeast areas. Heavy showers for a time along north- and west-facing coasts, some encroaching inland, drier in the south. Showers becoming snow over the hills of Scotland and northern England. A cooler day at 4C in the north, 7C south.
