UK Forecast - February 07, 2019
Wet & windy
Turning colder

Friday
A deep area of low pressure lies off northwest Ireland on Friday. This brings widespread severe gales to much of the country. Gusts of 70mph on western and southern coasts, 50-60mph inland. Plenty of cloud and outbreaks of rain, although eastern areas of England may be drier, perhaps with a few brighter spells. Heavier periods of rain across Ireland and into Scotland and the west of England and Wales, pose the risk of localised flooding. A mild day for all at 7 to 11C.

Friday Night
Staying windy through Friday night into Saturday morning with gales still expected across much of the country. Gusts in excess of 55mph are expected for a vast swath of the country. Rain will persist through the night too for western areas with particularly heavy falls for western Scotland. Drier with clearer skies in the south. Overnight lows of 4 to 6C expected for most.

Saturday
The area of low pressure drifts to the northeast over Scotland on Saturday. Further severe gales in Scotland, gusts of 60mph, although these easing slowly from the west. Rain affecting much of central and northern Scotland, but falling as snow on the hills. Some showers over other western coasts and hills, but tending to become drier and brighter in more central and eastern parts of England, Wales and Ireland. Highs at 5 to 10C.

Sunday
A mixed day with low pressure sweeping east. A front brings rain and strong winds to the southern UK first thing which clears away to the southeast through the morning while a second front moves into Northern Ireland and Scotland bringing further rain and strong winds as well as colder temperatures. The rain could be heavy at times and may turn wintery on higher ground. High temperatures at 4 to 7C.
