UK Forecast - March 09, 2019
Wet & windy
Gales at times

Sunday
Two separate areas of low pressure look set to impact the UK on Sunday. The first will track quickly across Wales and the southern half of England through the morning bringing heavy rain to central England, lighter rain elsewhere and snow over the Pennines. It will be very windy too. The second low pressure system looks as though it will be centred to the west of Scotland and north of Ireland first thing on Sunday. It will bring very strong winds and a heavy mixture of rain, sleet and snow across the island of Ireland, Scotland and northern England through the afternoon. Precipitation will be heaviest in western Scotland. As the low clears to the east it will leave wintry showers for western areas. Staying very windy for most with the exception of the north of Scotland on Sunday. Highs at 4C in northern Scotland, 11C in southeastern England.

Sunday Night
Low pressure will clear over the North Sea through Sunday evening leaving the UK and Ireland in a west to northwesterly airflow. Wintry showers will persist overnight for western coastal areas and hills. It will be a mostly cloudy night and winds should ease for most areas. Overnight lows falling to -3C or lower in northern Scotland, 4C in southeast England.

Monday
Monday starts mostly dry and bright away from western areas. It will be a cloudy start to the day for Ireland while western parts of the UK could see wintry showers persisting first thing. Showers should ease through the morning though cloud will build from the west bringing rain and gales to Ireland, western Scotland and western parts of Wales through the afternoon. Through the evening rain nad very strong wind will reach western England and much of Scotland and Wales too. There could be some particularly heavy rainfall for western Ireland and southwest Scotland. Further snow will fall on the hills of Scotland. High temperatures at 5 to 10C.

Tuesday
Low pressure stays to the north of the UK and Ireland on Tuesday. A band of heavy rain will clear southeastward over England and Wales through the morning and early afternoon. To the north of this front will be strong westerly winds which will bring persistent rain and wintry showers to western areas. Becoming drier and brighter in the east later. Highs at 5 to 8C.
