Wet & windy
Colder north

Christmas Day
A cool start to Christmas morning. There could be a few snow showers over the high ground of northern Scotland. Thicker cloud and outbreaks of rain arriving across southern Ireland, Wales and southwest England early on, these then moving fairly quickly northwards. The rain brings a dark, wet Christmas afternoon over much of Ireland, Wales and England. Becoming windier in the south and the rain turning more drizzly here. Drier for Scotland but remaining chilly. Highs at 4C in northern Scotland, 12C in southern England.

Christmas Day Night
A wet night over most of Ireland, north and west Wales as well as northern England and Scotland. Some heavy periods of rain here, although turning drier and more drizzly over central and southern England, but breezy here. Wet over much of Scotland, the rain turning to snow on the hills. Lows near 1C in central Scotland, 10C in southern England.

Boxing Day
Low pressure west of Scotland brings a wet Boxing Day to much of Scotland; cold and wet here with snow on the hills, murky too. Damp and murky over much of northern England, Wales and southern Ireland as well as southwest England. Drier and breezy in central and eastern parts of England. Highs at 5 to 14C.

Sunday
Yet another warm front tracks north of Sunday bringing cloud and rain across Ireland and much of western Scotland. Rather a lot of cloud elsewhere with some drizzle on western and southern coasts and hills. Drier to the east, a few bright spells breaking through here. Highs near 8 to 12C.
