A very deep area of low pressure north of Scotland will dominate Britain today keeping it very windy with strong westerly winds gusting to 60-65 mph over the high ground of Scotland and the northern Pennines. These diminish somewhat in the afternoon but still very windy. A lot of cloud across Britain today. Outbreaks of rain and showers will affect Northern Ireland, Scotland and north west England. Some of this will be heavy. Another area of rain and drizzle is expected to sweep into the channel in the afternoon and at the moment it is expected to affect the southern coastal areas of England. Expect maximum temperatures of 13 to 16 Celsius but feeling chilly in the strong winds.
In the evening and night it will be staying quite windy with gales across the Northern Isles. The rain in the far south clears away this evening. Spells of rain and showers across Northern Ireland, Scotland and north west England becomes patchy and light during the night. A dry night to come across central and southern England with clear skies. Expect minimum temperatures of 7 to 10 Celsius.
