Heavy rain and widespread severe gales spread through England and Wales during the late morning and afternoon. Gusts of 80mph could occur over southern coast of England, up to 70mph inland. These winds are strong enough to cause minor damage and there will be flooding on the roads. Scotland continues to see wintry showers in the west, but much brighter to the east.
