Some lingering rain on Monday
A mixed week ahead

Monday
Low pressure centred over the North Sea. Areas of rain continuing from Sunday will fade for many places during the morning, although some patchy rain or showers are likely into the afternoon for central and southern England and Wales. Local showers forming over the Scottish Highlands, but much of northern Britain and Ireland will see a dry day. Fresh northwesterly winds near eastern coasts, lighter winds elsewhere. Feeling cool, but pleasant in any sun, highs 14 to 19C.

Monday night
Many places will be dry into the night with clear spells and variable cloud. A little rain over the southwest is likely to be on and off through the night, locally some steadier rain is possible over a few hours here. Showery rain for the west of Ireland. A cool night, with temperatures dipping away low enough for a touch of frost in some Scottish glens. Lows 4 to 10C.

Tuesday
A little patchy rain for southern England in the morning, plus odd showers toward some western coasts, otherwise a dry and bright start with some sun. Cloud building and scattered showers will form into the afternoon, some of these heavy in places, drifting from Wales into the Midlands, also forming over northern England and Highland Scotland. Light south to southwesterly winds. Highs 16 to 21C.

Wednesday
A front will be passing from west to east during the morning. This brings cloud and rain, some of it heavy. The rain clearing eastwards by afternoon with brighter weather following, but a scattering of showers. Some good spells of sunshine in Ireland, a few showers here. Fresh southwesterly winds, strongest near coasts in the south and west. Highs 16 to 22C.
