Snow showers in north
Risk of snow far south on Wednesday

Monday
Most of England and Wales will see a mostly and bright day with the best of the sunshine over the southern parts of England. Northern Ireland will see a dry start to the day, but soon plenty of showers will follow, these wintry mostly over high ground. As for Scotland, plenty of snow showers are expected through the day over the Hebrides, Sutherland and Caithness, Northern Isles, Moray and northern Aberdeenshire with 5-10cm of fresh snow possible mostly away from the coasts and over the hills with slight accumulations elsewhere. Central and southern Scotland will see a mostly dry and bright day. Some snow showers are possible over the coastal areas of North Yorkshire, Humberside, Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Suffolk with a couple of cm of snow possible. It will feel cold in the wind and within the showers with the temperatures remaining around freezing over Scotland for the whole day, rising to 3C over Northern Ireland, to 2C over eastern England, but 4-5C elsewhere.

Monday Night
Showers will continue in the evening and overnight, however as wind will turn more northwesterly expect snow showers over the north Channel to spread over parts of Northern England, as well as northern parts of Wales. Further to that, showers over eastern coastal areas of England will die away in the evening. Over Scotland expect a longer period of snow overnight into Tuesday with snow being heavy and spreading across all parts of Scotland with 5-10cm of fresh snow across most parts away from west coast. Further south it will be a dry night with long clear spells. Expect widespread frost to develop with icy surfaces where showers occur. Temperatures will drop to -3C to -5C across most parts.

Tuesday
Snow is expected in the morning over Scotland with some new accumulations even down to low levels. This is expected to clear through the afternoon with snow showers following confined mostly over the north. Plenty of showers over Northern Ireland, these wintry over high ground. Northern England and north Wales will see a period of snow in the morning with some accumulations, but this will soon clear with a few showers following. Further south the day will be dry and bright with sunny spells. Maximum temperature at around freezing over Scotland but up to 3-4C elsewhere.

Wednesday
A showery day for the northern and western parts, with snow showers being heavy and blustery over Northern Ireland, the Hebrides, the Northern Isles, Sutherland and Caithness, Northwest Highland, Moray and Northern Aberdeenshire. A few showers are possible over northwest England too, these wintry down to the surface. Further south there is a risk for thicker cloud and snow to arrive over the southern parts of England, but still there is low confidence on this forecast. In case snow arrives in snow, it will result in some accumulations of fresh snow even down to low levels. It will be another cold day with temperatures at around freezing in north in the afternoon, but up to 3C in south.
