Thursday
Higher pressure gradually pushes from the west, with generally dry and bright conditions expected for most of England away from the east coasts. Eastern coastal area will see several snow showers, some on the heavy side, mostly over East Anglia coast. Snow showers over Northern Ireland, these becoming more frequent and possible heavy later in the afternoon, and some passing across the Irish Sea and reaching coastal parts of northwest England and maybe north Wales. Over Scotland, apart from the Central Belt and the Borders which will remain mostly dry and bright, snow showers elsewhere, possibly heavy over the northwest and the Northern Isles. Another cold day with the wind increasing the wind chill, with the temperatures at -1C over Scotland, +1C over Northern Ireland and 3C over England and Wales.


Thursday Night
High pressure to the southwest of the UK will bring a somewhat milder air overnight especially in northwest. Snow showers in the north and northwest to start for this evening. Any remaining showers over Northern Ireland will turn back to rain over low ground, same for coastal parts of west-northwest Scotland. A longer spell of snow and rain is expected over northern Scotland overnight. England and Wales will see a clear and dry night. Minimum temperatures at -2 to -3C over most parts.


Friday
Away from the northwest Scotland, where a longer spell of rain and hill snow is expected along with strong southwesterly winds, elsewhere it will be a rather cloudy day but mostly dry. Some long sunny spells are possible are expected southern and southeastern England in the morning and early afternoon. Breezy for all, stronger winds in northwest Scotland. Temperatures in the afternoon rising above freezing across all parts at around 3C to 4C.


Saturday
As low pressure is approaching from the west, a strong southwesterly flow will develop over the country. The day will be cloudy for all with outbreaks of rain at first over Northern Ireland and Scotland but spreading to most areas through the afternoon and the evening. Rain will get heavy over higher ground, especially over western Highlands and the Borders. Expect afternoon temperatures at around 6C to 7C, but possibly up to 9C in southwest England and south Wales.
