Cloudy across much of central and western Scotland as well as Northern Ireland this morning. There will be rain here, some of it possibly heavy in Northern Ireland. Sunny spells and scattered showers in the rest of Ireland. Cloud affecting eastern coasts of England, but dry elsewhere with good spells of sunshine. The rain fades this afternoon in western Scotland and Northern Ireland although still some isolated showers in the rest of Ireland with sunshine becoming stronger here. A scattered of showers affecting the Pennines and Midlands as well as the hills of Wales, but dry for most with sunny spells. Highs at 16C in northern Scotland and Northern Ireland, generally 22 to 25C for most other areas.
Clear skies over most of England and Wales tonight, some mist patches developing by dawn in more sheltered areas. Cloudier skies in Scotland and Northern Ireland with some patchy rain continuing to affect the northern half of Scotland. Temperatures slipping to around 9 to 13C.
A ridge of high pressure persists over Ireland and the UK on Thursday. A northerly flow affects all parts. There will be some good spells of sunshine for most, although more cloud continuing to affect much of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Scattered heavy showers forming in the afternoon, most to the north and west. Eastern and central areas tending to be drier and brighter with sunshine. Highs at 18C in northern Scotland, a hot 28C in southeast England.
A ridge of high pressure persists over the UK and Ireland on Friday although troughs will be affecting the west. There will be sunny spells and dry weather in the east and south. More western and northern areas will see showers developing, some of them heavy and thundery. Fewer showers in western Ireland and western Scotland. Cooling sea breezes on coasts. Temperatures at a hot 29C in southern England, 24C in western Scotland, 21C in northern Scotland.
