Rain and snow for Scotland, the snow falling to low elevations in the Highlands, focused on the eastern Highlands with sustained heavy snowfalls possible here combined with strong easterly winds. Snow continues to affect the Scottish Highlands well into the daytime, gradually breaking up. Easterly winds continue in the north. Light variable breezes in the south. Highs 5C in Scotland, to 9 to 12C elsewhere.
Wednesday Low pressure deepens again from the southwest and dominates over Britain and Ireland with areas of rain and heavy showers rotating in from the southwest. Downpours with hail and thunder in the south and especially southwestern areas. Brisk southerly winds. Snow on Scottish hills. Highs 7 to 12C.
