Gales

Sunday
Low pressure continues to dominate, with various separate centres circulating around the British Isles on Sunday, making detail uncertain. Expect areas of persistent heavy rain to the south and southwest, but also some drier spots for at least part of the day, mainly across the Midlands. Windy with gales again in places, especially around southern coasts. Highs 8 to 11C for many, 12 or 13C along the south coast and to the far southeast.


Sunday night
Outbreaks of rain spread north and east across the country with frequent showers affecting many areas. A windy night too for northern and southern areas with coastal gales likely. Overnight lows widely at 5 to 9C.

 
 
 


Monday
Low pressure stays in charge, with further zones of rain and heavy showers rotating across the country. Some persistent heavy falls in places. A mixed day on the whole though some spots to the north and west stay generally dry as winds turn from the northeast later. Highs at 8 to 13C, coolest north and west.
 


Tuesday
The wind continues to turn northeasterly across the country into midweek, with temperatures falling for most places. Clusters of showers spreading inland from North Sea and north-facing coasts. Frequent showers for southeastern areas. Brisk and chilly winds. Highs 6 to 11C, 12 or 13C along the south coast and to the far southeast.
