Rain and sleet in north and eastern Scotland, showers slipping south through England on Monday. Snow affecting the hills of Scotland. Brighter west and south with sunny spells and feeling cool. Northern Scotland always at risk of sleet and snow showers, these showers affecting many eastern coasts and hills. Tending to be mostly dry and bright as well as cold in Ireland, a few showers along northern coasts and hills. Highs at 4C in Scotland, 9C in southern England.


Monday Night
A ridge of high pressure builds and calms winds for a time. Temperature remaining at or near freezing in most places. Widespread frosts and fog patches forming throughout the night and lingering into the morning. Lows widely 0 to 1C in the south, -2C in the north.
 


Tuesday
Fog and frosts slow to clear during a cold morning, though lifting by midday revealing brighter skies. Best sunshine in the north and east. Increased cloud and rain in Ireland in the afternoon, reaching western parts of Scotland, Wales and England as the day progresses. Light showers or dry in the east although with increasing cloud, clearest in the southeast. Highs 4 to 5C in the south, 2C in the north.


Wednesday
Overnight rain clearing east through Wednesday morning. Patchy sun throughout the day in most areas. Turning windy and wet in Ireland later as a deep area of low pressure arrives. Strong winds in the west later, gale force in the north. Highs at 6 to 8C in the south, 3C in the north.
