Rain in Scotland

Saturday
A windy day for Scotland with gales in northern and western areas. There will be rain in the far north of Scotland too. Some spots of drizzle over the hills of northwest England and the north and west of Wales. Elsewhere the day will be dry although with plenty of cloud. Some breaks developing here and there, the best of these breaks to the east of high ground. Rain turns heavier later in western Scotland. Temperatures rising to 9 to 12C.


Saturday Night
A mild and breezy night across the UK and Ireland. There will be soe heavy periods of rain in northern and western Scotland as well as the far northwest of Ireland. Drizzle over western coasts and hills of England and Wales. Eastern areas tending to be drier with the cloud being more broken here. Lows at 6 to 10C.
 


Christmas Eve
Low pressure is going to be to the north of the UK and Ireland on Christmas Eve with higher pressure to the south. A moist southwest flow affects all areas. There will be plenty of cloud across many areas, although a few brighter spells to the lee of high ground such as over the Midlands and northeast England, breezy here too. Wet across Ireland and southern Scotland as well as the far northwest England. Turning chillier in northern Scotland, a few wintry showers here. Highs at 7C in northern Scotland, 12C in southern England.


Christmas Day
Low pressure over Scotland on Christmas Day. Cloud and rain across much of Scotland, Ireland, western England and Wales. The rain heavy at times. Colder air follows into Ireland and western Scotland and this may turn rain to snow over the hills. Central and eastern areas of England should be mainly dry and cloud, but will be windy. Rain affects southern coasts and hills. Highs at 12C in southeast England, 5C in western Scotland.
