The rain dense spreads east this afternoon, covering much of the south of Ireland, Wales, and central and southern England, although staying drier in northern England and Scotland, apart from the showers in the west. The southwest breeze increasing in the south. Tops at 6C in northern Scotland to m12C in southwest England.

Rain tonight, through much of Ireland, England and Wales. Most of it affecting western areas. More drizzly in central and eastern parts with fog affecting western and southern coasts and hills. Drive for Scotland with some clear skies and a frost. Lows at -3C in central Scotland, 9C southern England.
 

Wednesday
Fronts are extending through the British Isles on Wednesday. These bring lots of cloud and outbreaks of rain to much of England, Wales and Ireland. Most of the rain is likely across Northern Ireland and northern England where some could be heavy. Further periods of rain across southern England. Elsewhere, the rain is probably lighter, although low cloud, mist and drizzle affecting western coast and hills. Most of Scotland is drier with some bright or sunny spells in central and northern areas, although some showery rain in Shetland and Orkney. Highs at 6C in northern Scotland, 13C in southern England.

A damp day on Thursday with rain affecting many areas. The heaviest and most frequent of the rain in Scotland, west Wales and western England. Patchier rain in central and eastern areas. Mostly dry in the far north of Scotland. Highs at 5C in northern Scotland, 14C in southeast England.
