Fair start
Becoming unsettled

Monday
A dry and bright day for many. Early mist soon clearing. A good deal of sunshine. Fair weather cloud filling in a little, and high cloud building in western regions, as fronts approach from the Atlantic. Outbreaks of rain spread east across Ireland, reaching west Wales and south-west England into the afternoon. Light winds, but strengthening southerlies around western coasts. Highs 9 to 13C.

Monday night
Low pressure moves in from the Atlantic. Rain spreads from the west across most of Britain overnight, heaviest and most prolonged over western hills, but all regions are likely to see rain before dawn. Snow over mountains, likely confined above 600m, although snow may fall to lower elevations in the eastern Scottish Highlands. Blustery winds. Temperatures 5 to 8C or above south, 1 to 4C north.

Tuesday
Low pressure centred over Scotland. Fronts pass east across England in the morning, clearing eastern regions by afternoon. A scattering of showers follow from the west, mixed with spells of sunshine. Rain or hill snow will be more persistent in Scotland. Another spell of rain may move into south-western Britain overnight. Blustery winds, local gales around exposed coasts. Highs 8 to 13C.

Wednesday
Generally low pressure in charge. Various fronts affect the British Isles, bringing areas of rain or showers. A risk of heavy rain passing east across central-southern England lasting a few hours. Snow across the Scottish mountains. Some brighter periods, but most places will see bursts of rain at some point, with local hail and thunder possible. Blustery westerly winds. Highs 6 to 10C.
