Rain clears east very early Thursday morning. A brighter day for most with spells of sunshine. Showers affecting northern and western coasts but dry for most. Staying fair into the afternoon and cool too. Further spells of sunshine with more scattered showers north and west. The fresh northwest wind continues to blow throughout. Feeling cooler in the wind with highs at 6 to 8C.


Thursday Night
Chilly tonight as the winds ease. Clear skies allowing for a touch of frost in central and eastern areas. Turning cloudier in Ireland and Scotland with rain in western Scotland and western Ireland with the winds increasing here. Lows at 1 to 5C.

 
 
 


Friday
A front crossing the British Isles on Friday. Periods of rain in southern Scotland as well as northwest England, Wales and southwest England. Cloudier in central and eastern areas. Turning brighter in Ireland and the north and west of Scotland with a few showers. This afternoon sees the rain clearing eastern and southern England. Sunny spells and drier weather for many northern and western areas, some showers in western and northern Scotland. A breezy day with highs at 6 to 9C.


Saturday
A deep area of low pressure close to northern Scotland on Saturday. Widespread gales for all areas, the speeds gusting 70mph or more in Scotland. Cloud and periods of rain, tending to turn more showery as the morning progresses. The showers heavy and persistent in northern and western Scotland. Some heavy showers in western England, western Wales and western Ireland. Sleet and snow over the hills of Scotland later too. Tops at 5C in northern Scotland, 12C in southern England.
