Gale developing north tonight

Tuesday
A cloudy and breezy start to Tuesday morning in eastern England, feeling cool too. A few spots of rain close to the east coast at first, but these will be clearing with the sun breaking through the coud by late morning and early afternoon. Brighter for other areas with sunny spells as a ridge of high pressure builds from the west. A low risk of a shower in western Scotland. Thicker cloud may affect southern England for a time late afternoon and evening. Highs near 6 to 8C.


Tuesday Night
Some clear spells developing over England and Wales through tonight. Cloud thickening for Scotland, northern England and Ireland with the winds increasing too. Rain in the far northwest of Scotland but morning with gales here too. Lows near 0C in rural areas of England and Wales, 5C in northwest Scotland.
 


Wednesday
Windy in Scotland on Wednesday with gales north and west, gusts of 70mph in the north of Scotland. Rain in the northwest turns heavier through the morning, spreading eastwards and turning increasingly to snow on hills with blizzards over Highlands and Grampian. Drier for England, Wales and much of Ireland but then rain arrives here through the afternoon and this also turns sleety in northern Ireland and over the Pennines. Drier for central and southern England and Wales, broken cloud and some bright spells in central and eastern areas. Tops at 11C in southern England, 4C in northern Scotland.


Thursday
A front brings cloud and some drizzle in Scotland and northern England. Rain heavy over the slopes of western Scotland. Some drizzle over western coasts and hills of Wales, southern Ireland and southwest England. Drier in central and eastern areas. Highs at 8 to 11C.
