Tuesday
An area of low pressure weakens as it moves slowly north-east into the North Sea. Outbreaks of showery rain for many areas, locally persistent over a few hours, particularly toward northern England & eastern Scotland - snow over the hills. Squally bursts in the south-west. Brighter in central & south-east England, also western Scotland. Blustery winds - gales some coasts & hills. Temperatures 4 to 8C north & west, 10 or 11C south-east.


Tuesday night
Residual rain fades from many areas, although patches of drizzly rain may linger across the Midlands. A few showers around coasts of west Wales & south-west England. Staying windy near coasts in the west & north. Winds dropping light inland, allowing fog patches to form in some low-lying areas. Becoming frosty for Scotland, perhaps northern England where skies clear, lows 0 to -4C. Nearer 3 to 6C Midlands and south.


Wednesday
High pressure builds from the north-west, bringing a fair day to much of the country. A legacy of cloudy skies is likely to persist across many central and eastern areas, whilst the north-west should see some sunshine break through. Patches of drizzly rain should fade. A few showers possible toward the south-west. A brisk easterly breeze in the south, light winds elsewhere. Fog patches in central Scotland. Temperatures 4 to 9C.


Thursday
High pressure centred across northern Britain. A frosty start for Scotland, Northern Ireland & far north of England. Some fog patches, may persist across central Scotland. Dry for most of the country. Risk of a few drizzly showers along the south coast. A brisk easterly breeze for southern Britain, but very light winds elsewhere. Cloudy for many, but some sunshine in the west & north. Highs 4 to 8C, locally 10C in south.
