Thursday A mix of rain, sleet and snow early morning for northern & central England will slowly ease away eastwards during the day. Sleet & snow showers continue for East Anglia into the afternoon, and will also affect the northern facing coasts of western Britain & Ireland. Possible hail and thunder in heavier showers. Inland regions largely dry with some sunshine. Feeling cold in brisk north-westerly winds. Highs just 3C in northern areas, to 5 or 6C in the south.
Thursday night Clusters of snow and hail showers will continue to affect coastal regions in the west and north, and may well extend inland towards the West Midlands, giving local accumulations even at low levels. Local thunder and lightning is possible. A cold north to north-westerly wind continues. Clear skies inland will allow temperatures to fall quickly, low widely down to 0C, locally -3C to -5C in sheltered northern valleys, giving widespread frost and ice.
Friday A cold north-westerly wind across the country, bringing continued areas of showers to coastal districts in the west, north & east, spreading inland toward the West Midlands at times, widely falling as snow to low levels, giving local slight accumulations. Occasional hail, perhaps isolated thunder. Away from showers there will be plenty of sunshine, and central inland regions of Scotland & England should remain largely dry. Daytime temperatures 3 to 6C.
Saturday Largely dry with a good amount of bright sunshine, but starting frosty for many. A brisk northerly wind will bring snow showers to North Sea coasts, these locally frequent. A belt of rain and sleet may also affect the south-west, although some uncertainty here. A cold day for all - temperatures will struggle to climb above freezing in northern areas, highs 3 or 4C in Midlands & south.
