UK Forecast - December 26, 2017
Chilly midweek
Some snow; frost overnight

Wednesday
Fronts pivoting eastwards across England bring a spell of rain, or snow over high ground in the Midlands & Home Counties. A light covering over the hills, but mostly slushy at low levels. Persistent rain or sleet affects eastern England most of the day. Skies brightening from the north & west. Sunny spells for Scotland & northern England. Wintry showers near Irish Sea coasts, also northern Scotland. Strong northerly winds, gales where exposed in the south-east. Highs 2 to 5C.

Wednesday night
Skies will clear for many places overnight, allowing frost and ice to form widely. However, the northerly winds will continue to bring snow to northern Scotland, some heavy falls over the mountains. Local bands of wintry showers are possible for north Wales, plus the north & north-west of Ireland. Windy around North Sea coasts. Lighter winds inland. Lows 1 to -2C, perhaps locally lower in sheltered valleys; less cold near coasts.

Thursday
Low pressure lies to the east of Britain. A chilly north to northwesterly pattern. A bright day for many, with sunny spells and local bands of wintry showers - these focused around Irish Sea coasts, running into the Midlands at times. Snow showers for northern Scotland. Mainly dry in central and southern regions. Some rain may move into the far south-west later. Strongest winds close to North Sea coasts. Chilly again at only 1 to 5C.

Friday
Fronts spread north-eastwards across Britain, bringing heavy rain preceded by snow over the hills in northern England & Scotland. Milder air will eventually spread to all areas from the south-west. Further heavy rain is likely to move back in from the Atlantic later. Blustery winds, possible gales around coasts in the west & south. Highs 2 to 7C, perhaps milder in the south-west, and temperatures tending to rise even after dark.
