Becoming brighter and fresher in the far northwest of Scotland. The rain continues through northern England, the Midlands and Wales this afternoon, tending to become more patchy. Dry and breezy in the far south of England, a few spots of rain here by evening. The brighter, drier weather across most of Scotland and Ireland, drifting southeast. Some showers in western Scotland. Highs at 26C in East Anglia, 15 to 17C in most northern and western areas as the brighter air arrives.
Thursday Night Cloud and some showery spots of rain in central and southern areas of England and Wales tonight, these fading south. Scattered showers in western Scotland. Drier for other areas with clearer skies. A chilly night with lows at 4C in Scotland, 6C in Ireland, but warm in southern England at 14C.
Friday A ridge of high pressure over the British isles on Friday bringing a fine, cool morning for many areas. There may be some cloud in the far southeast, a chance of a spot of rain here too. Some showers in northwest Scotland where the winds will be stronger. This afternoon sees rain in the far northwest of Scotland again, windy too. A few spots of showery rain staying in far southeast. For most though it will be dry with good spells of sunshine. Tops at 24C in the sunshine in England and Wales, 16C in northwest England, 15C in northwest Scotland.
Saturday The ridge of high pressure bringing a dry morning with many areas of England and Wales bringing good spells of sunshine. An occluded front over western Scotland and western Ireland giving some cloud and a few spots of showery rain. Staying similar in the afternoon, although cloud increasing over western coasts and hills. Staying fair in central and eastern areas. Highs at 25C in central and southern England, 14C in northwest Scotland.
