An area of low pressure clears slowly to the east of England on Sunday taking rain with it. A breezy day for many areas. A few showers in western Scotland which may merge to give longer spells of rain. These turn to snow over higher ground too. Showers too for western Ireland as well as the west of Wales and southwest England. Drier for central and eastern areas with some good spells of sunshine though the odd shower may develop here at times. High temperatures at 4 to 9C.
Outbreaks of rain continue for western parts of Scotland overnight while showers persist for western Ireland, west Wales and far western portions of England. A mostly dry night for eastern areas with clearer skies here too. Breezy for southern areas. Overnight lows widely at 1 to 6C.
A weak ridge of higher pressure builds into southwestern areas on Monday but a west-northwesterly flow dominates across the country. This brings cloud and outbreaks of rain to western coastal regions but there will also be plenty of brightness for central and eastern areas. An area of rain arrives over southwestern Ireland through the late afternoon and spreads into the southwest UK later. A breezy day across the country with high temperatures at 5 to 9C.
A mixed start to Christmas Eve with an area of low pressure bringing outbreaks of showery rain to eastern parts of Ireland and across Wales and England. Strong winds too for southern and southwestern areas. Showers affect western parts of Scotland through the morning before a band of more persistent rain moves in here and spreads to northwestern parts of Ireland too. Rain clears to the east of England through the afternoon followed by isolated showers to the west. Highs at 3 to 5C for much of Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England, 6 to 11C for Ireland, Wales and the rest of England.
