Seasonal outlook - November 20, 2015
Breezy & mixed
Cooler spells

Issued: Friday 20th November 2015
Duty forecasters: Simon Keeling & Captain Bob

*December*
December is hinted at being an unsettled month, dominated by a west to north-westerly flow.
This brings unsettled conditions, with a fair amount of rain in more western areas. However to the east where sheltered by higher ground it is likely to be drier.
the final stages of the month may become colder for all and we are watching the threat of some very cold conditions perhaps affecting Scotland around the Christmas period.
as is normal in December there may be times when there are snow showers on the hills of Scotland perhaps extending as far south as northern England. Overall we aren't seeing the threat of any widespread wintry conditions, at least until the very end of the month.

*January*
A cool start to January but rather unsettled one across southern areas. There is likely to be some heavy rain across many southern and western parts of England and Wales as well as Ireland.
Despite being drier and cooler across Scotland at first it is likely to turn more unsettled here at least for the first half of the month.
The second half of the month may may see a general trend toward cooler more wintry conditions with the incidence of rain turning to sleet and snow increased.
However the evolution of the arrival of the cooler weather is uncertain at this time. We will keep you informed.
