Claire: Once again, sunshine and showers are on the cards for the UK and Ireland. Showers will initially be quite scattered and focussed over northern and eastern areas before becoming more widespread and heavier this afternoon. Some thunder and hail is likely.

Simon : It's certainly a shock to the temperature system for most of us this morning. A cold front heading south bringing cloud and patchy rain. Sunshine follows, but then heavy snow showers in Scotland. Take a look at that white, 'lumpy' cloud in Scotland; these are large cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds and are responsible for the showers. Cold, cold, cold!

Alexi: Happy Good Friday everyone, well we have a rather stark contrast in the conditions this morning; some areas seeing glorious bright starts (yet v cold) and others shrouded in low cloud. The cloud should gradually thin through the day so most will see some sunshine at some point. Drizzle to start across northern and northeast Scotland but this should quickly fizzle out.

Alexi: That cloud is slowly now thinning out and sunshine is appearing for those affected. Temperatures though have taken a hit from the cloud cover, but where there is lengthy spells of sun expect highs in the mid teens.
