Simon: Damp and cloudy for most of England, Wales and Scotland today. heaviest rain in western Scotland and later in southwest England. Heavy bursts of rain in eastern Ireland this morning, but drier and brighter weather in the west of Ireland spreads east.

Simon: Some decent spells of sunshine for northeast Scotland this afternoon, these sunny spells spilling into northeast England too. For most of us it becomes cloudier with spells of patchy rain in the west and south.

John: a change in the weather today as south west winds turn things milder and that will be the theme of the weather for the upcoming week. Outbreaks of rain to affect the country today, this heaviest in the north and very patchy and light in the south east.

Simon: Area of rain now passing through southern Ireland, Wales and southwest England. This passing eastwards and turning to sleet on the hills, then snow. Colder air reaching the system later could turn to snow over southeast during the rush hour.
