A mix of sun and patchy cloud follows the band of rain, showers affecting west coasts and spreading over Ireland and west Scotland with time, then more widely overnight.

A cold front is slicing the UK into two this morning, with southeast England in the drier, warmer sector; Cornwall into Wales, central and northern England, and eastern Scotland are under a veil of moderate to heavy rain, and western Scotland and Ireland are in the brighter, cooler window behind the cold front with showers already driving into western coasts. This band of rain will be sweeping east through the day, clearing most areas except perhaps East Anglia by later afternoon, leaving behind bright skies with some patchy cloud. Showers could be quite extensive over Ireland and west Scotland for several later hours, and will gradually extend towards southwest areas with time as well, though largely limited to west areas. Highs of 13 to 15C Scotland and Ireland, to 18C southeast England.

Some weak fronts and troughs will be passing eastward overnight, brining showers with it. By the later hours, showers will be widespread across many areas, only eastern areas remaining dry by the later hours; the Midlands and south England may see only patchy showers as well. The showers will likely be locally heavy. Lows of 7 to 9C.
