Snow covering northern hills
It's a cold and unpleasant morning for many places with persistent rain in the east & south-east, or a mix of rain and hill snow in northern regions.
Overnight snowfall is causing disruption on higher level routes so check your local travel details before heading out.
Today will see rain fade slowly in eastern regions, but it will stay dull, damp and cold - top temperatures only 3 to 5C in much of Scotland, east & north-east England.
Showers will affect western coasts, resulting in frequent rain locally. Meanwhile central and southern counties of England will fare best for mainly dry weather and brightening skies, temperatures 7 to 9C. Reaching 11 or 12C in the south-west.
Strong winds in the far south, gusting gale force around English Channel coasts. Lighter winds in the north today.
Thursday brings a mix of sunshine and showers, and cool north-westerly winds.
Have a great day.
