A windy, muggy day for most with showery rain this morning, then further rain in northeast England later
It's a windy day across England, Wales, Ireland and southern Scotland. There will be plenty of cloud to start the day, with bands of showers passing from east to west through England and Wales, these brushing eastern and southern coasts of Ireland too. The showers could be heavy at times, thundery as well, and perhaps merging to longer spells of rain. A tendency for them to be mostly affecting southwest England by mid afternoon and turning drier elsewhere, although drizzle and rain then move into northeast England. Feeling muggy in any brighter skies.
For Scotland and the rest of Ireland the morning is dry with broken cloud. Most cloud in central and eastern areas; some mist on eastern coasts of Scotland. Western Scotland and the northwest of Ireland should be drier and brighter with some sunny spells and these will be continuing this afternoon. Windy for all.
Tonight rain spreads through northern England southern Scotland and into eastern Ireland, most of it light here but heavier over the hills and coasts of northeast England. Further spots of rain and drizzle affecting southern coasts of England. Drier for other areas but windy again.
