Winds increasing, patchy showers on the west coasts
Good morning,
A ridge of high pressure sat over the UK overnight calming the winds and clearing the skies. Throughout Thursday, a low pressure system in the Atlantic will extend a trough towards the north UK, bringing increased winds and patchy showers first to Scotland. Winds and cloud will increase across the country throughout the day with light showers grazing the west coasts. Southeast England will avoid the cloud blanket, likely only experiencing intermittent cloud with plenty of sun spells. Not too cold but not warm either, with temperatures in most of Britain reaching only 4 to 5C.
This regime will stake its claim overnight with little change, maintaining breezy southwesterly winds and the potential for showers along the west coasts, particularly in Scotland. The SW will raise temperatures up to 11C overnight in Northern Ireland, while Britain will remain around 5 to 6C.
Cheers -Dan
