Issued: 0530hrs Thursday 4th June 2026 Duty forecaster: Dan Graves
Most western areas will see persistent rain, eastern areas also showery with a risk of lightning, the greatest risk in northeast Scotland.
Good morning,
The wet weather continues as showers and broader areas of rain drive in from the west all day. Many western coastal areas will see a persistent rain with heavy bursts, eastern areas seeing some drier moments but only fleeting moments of brighter skies. A few key nuances to the forecast include 1) a risk of lightning in eastern areas, particularly northeast Scotland, 2) a cluster of afternoon showers likely in and around Norfolk, and 3) strong wind for all, approaching gale force on west coasts of Ireland, Wales, and England. Highs at 13C in northern Scotland, 18C in southeast England.
Showers will begin to die out as evening turns to night, the skies brightening up across England and inland Ireland. Western coasts will remain damp, though the showers easing here too. A front will approach western Scotland and gradually drift north, brining more persistent rain to this region. The night remains windy too, though the risk of gales begins to lower. Most will see lows of 8 or 9C, though nearer 11C east Britain.
Enjoy the day! -Dan
