Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus
Rain will spread across the UK through Saturday with drier conditions ahead of the rain and blustery showers developing behind. A breezy day for many and windy in the north and northwest. Feeling cooler compared to yesterday but staying muggy across Scotland and the southeast of England.
Low pressure will situate itself over Ireland on Saturday morning and it is forecast to sweep an associated front northeastwards across England, Wales and Ireland as well as Northern Ireland. This will bring spells of rain to these places. Across northern and northeast Scotland the remnants of the previous day's front and some low lying cloud should gradually clear the northeast coast through the morning to allow for drier conditions and possible sunny spells until rain pushes in later. The rest of Scotland will gradually see rain spread up from the south.
Through the afternoon, rain is expected to spread across the majority of the northern half of the UK as well as Ireland, although the far north and northeast of Scotland could hold on to those drier conditions until later on in the day. Further south there will be more in the way of blustery showers with possible drier conditions developing, with drier conditons forecast more so across the southeast into the evening.
Overnight, blustery winds will continue to bring showers across western parts of England and southern most counties as well as Wales and Ireland, although across eastern and central England there looks to be more in the way of drier weather forecast. Further north, however, the rainy theme continues as outbreaks of rain and well as longer spells of rain will continue to affect Northern Ireland, northern England and much of Scotland. Windy particuraly across northern England.
