Severe gales and rain, turning colder with wintry showers to the north

Good morning,

A windy day for all parts of the country, gales for many and these being severe in Scotland. It is going to be a wet morning too across Scotland, northern England, Wales and Northern Ireland, this rain heavy for a few hours early on in western Scotland.

The rain band becomes more showery as it moves across northern England, the Midlands and Wales, then tending to become slow moving through southern England this afternoon. Brighter and cooler weather follows to the north, showers affecting much of Scotland and Ireland as well as northwest England, the showers turning to snow, even to lower levels in Scotland.

A wet night in southern England and Wales, some heavy periods of rain here. Cooler weather with bands of wintry showers elsewhere, a covering of snow in parts of Scotland, northern England, Northern Ireland and north Wales by the morning.
