A little sunshine to start 2016

Good morning,

And welcome to the new year. It is quite a frosty start for many, with skies having cleared overnight. There are some icy roads and pavements around first thing this morning, so if you are out and about in the next few hours do take extra care.

Generally this morning is going to be a pleasant one for the majority of the country. There wil be some good spells of sunshine around, and it should be dry for most too. A few showers could affect western Scotland at first, but these son tending to clear.

This afternoon sees cloud and some rain in the southwest of England and southern Ireland. The rain edging slowly north and bringing some stronger winds with it. Becoming wet again tonight in England and Wales although much uncertainty over where the heaviest of the rain will be.
