Hotting up midweek
High pressure lies to the east of Britain, promoting a warm southerly airflow today, and it will be staying hot through the middle of the week, reaching 30C in the south in the days ahead.
Dry with lots of sunshine across England and Wales today, although it will be cloudier in the northwest.
Slow-moving fronts trail across Scotland and Ireland with cloud and periods of rain here, most persistent in the West Highlands.
Today's top temperatures rising to 22 to 25C for much of England & Wales away from immediate coasts, and the Home Counties may reach 28C. Northern Scotland locally up to 20C around the Moray Firth, but where cloud and rain persists, it will be only around 13C.
