Generally overcast, murky around rain
Low pressure parked just to the west of the British Isles leads to an unsettled day with areas of thundery rain widespread inland, generally less rain around the coasts.
Bursts of rain will affect some areas from early morning. A lot of cloud and murk across the country. A little sun breaking through in places. Heavy downpours will break out increasingly widely into the afternoon, rain setting in for periods. Some locally torrential thunderstorms. Some areas escaping more often dry, coastal fringes will be generally drier.
Mostly light south to southeasterly winds, although locally suddenly gusty around heavy downpours. A freshening southwesterly breeze around the western English Channel coasts.
Today's top temperatures reaching 17 to 22C, warmest in eastern England, feeling quite humid.
Have a great day.
