Morning Call - October 17, 2023
Thickening cloud
Rain arrives in west

Issued: 0530hrs Tuesday 17th October 2023
Duty forecaster: Andrew Chaloner

Rain arrives from the west later in the day, but staying dry for most, with cloudy conditions across the country.

A mostly dry start to the day with thicker cloud to the south and west in advance of an approaching weather front. A dry morning across the Midlands and Wales, although cloudier than late reducing any morning frost. Mostly dry further north too although thicker cloud pushes northwards across Northern England and Scotland will result in a milder morning after an initial frost.

The afternoon should see a mostly cloudy picture for most areas. Light breezes expected for most, although gradually increasing through the afternoon. Feeling milder than of late, temperatures higher for most areas.

Thicker cloud and a strengthening breeze brings some rain to western Ireland through the evening period, with some heavy bursts of rain expected into Wednesday morning. Further south and east, a cloudy and mild evening but staying mostly dry.

Tonight, rain becomes persistent over Western and Northern Ireland, with a dry night elsewhere. Some rain arrives in the far southwest through the early hours. Lows 2C in Scotland in any clear spells to 9C in the far south and west.
