Turning stormy tonight in south

Good morning,

Today will be a bright day for many places, with plenty of sunshine across the Midlands, the east & north of Britain.

Clusters of wintry showers will affect coastal regions of the west & south, locally spreading inland, and rain may be frequent over a few hours - snow over the hills.

Today's top temperatures will be 4 to 8C - feeling closer to freezing where exposed to the breeze, but fairly pleasant in sunshine where sheltered.

Tonight brings an active area of low pressure in from the south-west. Heavy rain and strong winds will spread across much of England & Wales, gusts over 60mph on the south coast. Snow is likely over hills in Wales and the north Midlands.

In northern Britain, it will stay dry and clear tonight, and a hard frost will develop, with lowest temperatures in Scottish glens locally dropping toward -10C.

Have a great day.
