Hot southeast, some good spells of sunshine, but more cloud north and west with outbreaks of rain
Sunny spells and a fair start to the day across many parts of England and Wales, feeling warm as well. Far more cloud across Northwest England, Scotland, Ireland and western Wales. It's wet too over central and western parts of Scotland as well as Ireland, with some drizzle affecting north-western coasts of England.
This afternoon sees further spells of very warm sunshine for much of England and Wales. Always more cloud around northern western areas with the rain, mainly affecting eastern, southern and some central parts of Scotland. Further rain affecting the east of Ireland, reaching the west of Wales by late afternoon. Becoming drier and fresher in western Ireland later. Hot in East Anglia and southeast England at 29C, fresher in the west with 20C in Ireland, 22C in eastern Scotland and 16C in western Scotland.
Tonight is the rain edging, very slowly, eastward across northern, central and southern England. Probably dry in East Anglia and the Southeast. Clearer skies from western areas and dryer here too.
