Morning Call - August 12, 2019
Sunny spells & showers
Feeling cooler

Issued: 0530hrs Monday 12th August 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

A mixed day today with sunny spells, showers and outbreaks of rain for some.

Good morning,

We've got a band of heavy rain making it's way over the far southeast of England first thing this morning while showery rain will be affecting the Western Isles and western parts of Ireland. Elsewhere across the UK and Ireland it's a mostly dry start with just the odd scattered shower. Through the morning rain will spread eastward across Ireland becoming heavier and more persistent while showers will begin to merge over northern England bringing more prolonged outbreaks of rain here too.

Through the afternoon showers will spread eastward across Scotland too becoming heavier and more persistent. Rain will continue too for northeastern parts of England and eastern Ireland. There may be the odd rumble of thunder and hail at times. Mostly dry elsewhere though there is a chance of a thundery shower cropping up over southern and southeastern England. High temperatures this afternoon typically ranging from 14 to 20C.

Through the evening, rain and showers clear for most areas though western coastal parts of Ireland, Scotland and northern England could see light rain or drizzle persist.

Have a good day!
Claire
