Gales, rain and snow

Cloudy start for England and Wales, prolonged rain extending from Lancashire to Northumnberland, through Nottinghamshire to Dyfed, Wiltshire towards Devon and Hampshire, rain will move slowly south and east towards Berkshire, Norfolk and later Sussex by evening, temperatures between 8 to 10C. Cloudy across Scotland with squally showers of rain and snow, with prolonged outbreaks Stirling to Fife later morning and into the afternoon. Cold with temperature near or briefly above 0C, high windchill. Winds will reamin fresh to strong with gales for most through the day.

Continuing cloudy throug the evening and overnight with rain across southern couties of England clearing southwards, temperature near 0C with a widespread frost to come. Dry with mainly clear skies midlands northwards with a widespread frost. Frost severe across Scotland lowest -8C
