Morning Call - August 07, 2019
Showery again
Some sunshine

Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 7th August 2019
Duty forecaster: Garry Nicholson

Frequent heavy rain Highland Scotland

Good morning,

Low pressure is centred toward the northeast of Britain today, maintaining a showery westerly airflow across the country.

Showers merging to longer periods of rain for Scotland, focused toward the north and northeast, with some thundery downpours in places, likely concentrated over the Cairngorms and Aberdeenshire. Generally showery through the day across Northern Ireland.

Showery rain will be frequent over western coasts and hills of England & Wales in the morning, extending inland and eastwards with time. Bands of showers will pass west to east over the Midlands and southern counties through the afternoon - these quite hit and miss - some places seeing frequent rain, whilst nearby is often dry. Wales and the southwest improving through the afternoon with sunny spells.

A fresh breeze, particularly near coasts. Today's top temperatures reaching 23C around London, 21C for the Midlands and eastern England, 16 to 19C for the north and west of Britain.

Have a great day.
Garry
